Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have the power to make our roads safer by alerting drivers to dangers they may encounter on roadways, and help them take corrective action. The National Safety Council estimates more than 20,800 lives may be saved each year in the United States if every vehicle on the road employed some form of ADAS. The problem today is the average age of vehicles on U.S. roadways, according to Kelley Blue Book, is 12.2 years old. What this means – only 15% of vehicles have any ADAS features at all! ADAS availability gets even worse when the global fleet of passenger vehicles are included, with only 10% having ADAS capabilities.
